Meet Amanda

Hello!

I’m attorney Amanda Uliano, founder and principal of Uliano Law, a practice that specializes in being the “outside in-house counsel” for small and midsize businesses (SMBs) in the state of Florida.

As a small business owner myself, I know that every resource is critical to success - from the hours in your day to the dollars you invest to the service providers you select. When choosing a legal partner, it helps to have someone who not only has the right expertise, but also a business approach, values, and commitment that complement your own.

As you consider a legal partner with expertise to support any stage of business development, here is some insight into my background, partnership philosophy, and commitment to my clients and community.

  •

Law has been my passion from the get-go.

I started talking about law when I was six years old, and I never wavered from that ambition. As a young kid, I played “lawyer” with my friends. In middle school, I volunteered to be the classroom “attorney” as we learned about the judicial branch, and throughout high school, I jumped at any opportunity to be a trusted advisor, advocate, and leader for my peers. I was thrilled to be accepted to two of the nation’s top schools - George Washington University where I completed my undergrad magna cum laude, and later Duke University, where I earned my J.D.  During my second year at Duke, I discovered a passion for business and commercial law, which have been the focus of my practice ever since. After spending six years in commercial litigation with a large firm (Foley & Lardner LLP) , I decided to launch my own practice through which I could take a more consultative approach to helping clients grow and evolve their businesses. Shortly thereafter, I also took a position with the Hillsborough County Bar Association (HCBA) as their Continuing Legal Education (CLE) Director, which allowed me to help other lawyers grow in their careers.

As an entrepreneur myself, I understand first-hand what it’s like to grow a small business.

Starting and running a business is not for the faint of heart. I know that from experience. It takes passion, commitment, incredibly hard work, and - even if it’s a small or solo enterprise - it takes a support system. I am proud and grateful to have grown my practice over the past 15 years and to have clients who have been with me from the very start. I regularly draw from that entrepreneurial experience now when serving my clients as a member of their business support system. While it isn’t always easy, owning and growing my own practice has brought me more joy and fulfillment than I ever imagined. That is what I hope for my clients as well.

I’m a partner to my clients, navigating the legal details to unlock their business goals.

While I can and do support one-off cases and projects, my real specialty is long-term partnership for small and midsize firms. I deeply enjoy getting to know the ins and outs of an enterprise while working alongside its owner(s) and becoming a trusted partner they can call on through thick and thin, whether it’s for business formation, contract drafting, negotiation, commercial litigation, real estate litigation or other legal consulting and guidance. Small and midsize businesses (SMBs) often don’t require full-time legal counsel, but I aim to deliver the same level of understanding and partnership that an in-house attorney would provide. I call it being “outside in-house counsel” for small and midsize businesses.

My community is my home, and I roll up my sleeves for my neighbors just as I do my clients.

I moved from New York to Tampa Bay with my family just after middle school. This community has been my home ever since, and I love playing an active role in causes and organizations that help it grow and thrive. I’m especially passionate about empowering women, making arts and education more accessible, and building an inclusive and prosperous business community. I believe volunteering in any capacity means rolling up one’s sleeves and taking action to move the needle. That’s the philosophy I bring to the table in every leadership or membership role I take on. I have served on numerous boards and committees to help affect positive change in my community, including Dress for Success Tampa Bay, the American Cancer Society, Stageworks Theatre, the Tampa Bay Chamber of Commerce, and the Hillsborough County Bar Association. I also currently serve as legal counsel for the Phi Sigma Sigma Foundation, Inc., a national 501(c)(3) philanthropic organization supporting school and college readiness.

I’m an avid traveler, sports fan and all-around “people person” who loves creating memorable experiences for friends and family.

In between work and volunteering, I love spending time with my parents, brother, nieces, and cousins playing board games, attending sporting events (Go Bucs! Go Rays! Go Bolts!), and traveling, whether we’re exploring a new place or relaxing on our next cruise. At the end of the day, people are the ultimate “why” for me - my clients, my fellow community members, my friends, and my family. I hope to be someone they can count on, who helps them succeed, and who gives her all in everything she pursues.

If I can be of service, let's connect.
